| MEDITRAXTM SOFTWARE UPDATES
Software updates to keep up with changes in the
occupational health field and advances in technology have always been an integral part
of MediTrax development. Our design team works constantly with seasoned occupational
physicians and occupational health nurses, allied health professionals, finance and billing
"gurus", information systems administrators, clinical program directors, and
individual MediTrax users to ensure the software continues to maintain its "state-of-the-art"
support of experienced occupational health professionals.
SOFTWARE UPDATE HISTORY
We regularly inform our users about the availability of updates, and software updates
are available at this website for immediate downloading by all users with a current Support
Agreement. With MediTrax, it's not necessary to perform "sequential updating". Each new release
automatically detects the software version currently in use and makes all necessary
modifications to program files.
NO UPDATES ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME
Installation: Double-click on the update link above and save the downloaded WinZip
file to a folder on your workstation or on the file server (this does not need
to be the folder in which your MediTrax
files are located). There's only one file to download.
When you're ready to install the update, ensure that no users are currently logged into
MediTrax.
ADVICE YOU'VE HEARD BEFORE
1. Never run while carrying scissors.
2. Never try to beat a train to the crossing.
3. As with any software program, it's a good idea to make a backup copy of your current
data tables as insurance against power failure, earthquake, fire, flood, rain, hail, hurricane, sleet, pestilence,
tornado, volcanic eruption, plagues of locusts, or any other "it-can't-happen-here" disaster
occurring right in the middle of an update process!
We've tried to take all the guesswork out of backing up your data tables ... just click
Utilities / Database Administration / Backup Data Tables ...
and MediTrax will create a .ZIP file containing all your current data. The backup can be created
on your file server or a local hard drive, although we strongly recommend using removable
media such as a flash drive or CD.

The contents of the downloaded file must be "unzipped" into the same
folder in which your MediTrax files
are located. If you're unsure of the location, you can find it by right-clicking
on the MediTrax icon on your desktop,
and then selecting "Properties". You may see a series of tabs at the top
of the "Properties" window; if so, select "Program" and the
MediTrax folder will be shown in the
"Cmd Line" box (right before the final backslash and MEDITRAX.EXE program name).
If you see only two tabs, click on "Shortcut"; the
MediTrax folder will be
shown in the "Target" box.
It's not absolutely necessary to make a backup copy of all your
MediTrax data tables at this point,
but we always recommend making a backup just in case the power fails during the
middle of the update and your UPS crashes at the same instant, or a comet falls
on your office, or the Rapture occurs, or any other
"it-can't-happen" event happens. MediTrax
updates have a double-redundancy built in so that even if the power fails while
data files are being updated, your original data remain intact in a backup file.
Double-click on the downloaded file to extract its contents. The default
"unzip to" folder is F:\MT5. Replace this with the name of
the folder in which your MediTrax files
are located. If the files are successfully extracted, you will see a message saying
something like "4 files successfully unzipped".
Return to the desktop and double-click on the
MediTrax program icon.
MediTrax will automatically
update all data tables using the formats contained in the UPDATEnn.EXE file
It's not necessary to perform "sequential updating", and it's not
necessary to install each update as soon as it's released. We realize that users
in a wide variety of practice settings may have very different information management
priorities -- so if an individual update doesn't contain enhancements which will
be particularly useful to you, it's not necessary to install it. Each update
automatically detects the software version you're currently using and makes
all necessary modifications to your program files, enabling you to take advantage
of all the enhancements contained in any software updates you "bypassed".
Once the data tables are updated on the file server, they may be accessed from any
workstation on the network. MediTrax
supports a "client-server" mode in which the MEDITRAX.EXE program executable
is stored on each workstation, and only the data tables are maintained on the file server.
If this is the case at your facility, you'll next need to copy MEDITRAX.EXE to each
workstation so it can be invoked by clicking on the desktopicon.
NOTE 1: A simple way to maintain a backup copy of your data files is
to copy the data tables into your "MediTrax Training" folder
and update the software in that folder first. If you don't have a "training"
copy of the software, consider creating one. It's permitted in your license agreement,
and it enables your staff to practice using each software update before you install
it in your "working" data folder. Then, after your staff is comfortable
with the enhancements and changes contained in the update, you can back up your
"working" data files and update the information in your "training"
folder at the same time: simply copy your "working" .dbf and .dbt files
to the "training" folder before you install the update in the
"working" folder. If you'd like help creating a "training copy"
of the software, please call MediTrax Support at 925-820-7758.
NOTE 2: If the power fails during an update, and you didn't make a
backup copy of your data files prior to the update, please CALL OUR
TECHNICAL SUPPORT LINE before trying to repeat the update process.
NOTE 3: If you don't yet have a password to download the latest version, or if
you'd like to be notified by e-mail when each update is posted to this page,
please call us at 925-820-7758 or e-mail us at

As always, if you have ANY questions about installing software updates, or ANY difficulty
